Descartes Systems Group has acquired Tai, a leading provider of advanced freight management solutions for freight brokers, for approximately one billion kronor (100 billion USD).
Tai, headquartered in California, provides an AI-driven transportation management platform for freight brokers. The platform orchestrates the entire delivery lifecycle for full truckloads, less-than-truckload shipments, port transportation, and international shipments. By combining quoting, carrier sourcing, freight execution, and customer communication into a single workflow, Tai helps freight forwarders automate their operations and make better and faster decisions.
“Transportation networks are becoming increasingly dynamic and complex. At the same time, AI is changing the way our customers manage freight, capacity, and operations,” says Edward J. Ryan, CEO of Descartes, and continues:
– Tai complements our strengths in carrier onboarding, regulatory compliance, fraud prevention, and real-time insights. By combining our solutions, we see a significant opportunity to help freight brokers navigate change, streamline freight operations, improve operating margins, strengthen customer and carrier relationships, and support digital transformation.
– Freight brokers play a crucial role in connecting carriers and shippers to efficiently carry out shipments. “This acquisition expands our capabilities for freight brokers and adds valuable data on transactions, carriers, and shipments to the Descartes Global Logistics Network,” says Andrew Wimer, Associate General Manager, Transportation Management at Descartes.
