The partnership between DB Schenker and Prologis, the global logistics real estate specialist, is expanding. Effective January 1, 2022, a new 7,505-square-meter expansion will be added to DB Schenker’s existing space, bringing the total leased area in Arlandastad to 71,254 square meters.
DB Schenker has been operating at Prologis Park Arlanda since the DC1 facility was completed in 2008. In 2010, the facility was expanded by an additional 8,000 square meters, and now the global logistics service provider has chosen to expand once again with Prologis. Effective January 1, 2022, the lease agreement will also include the most recent expansion of DC1.
– DB Schenker is a key tenant for Prologis both in Sweden and throughout the rest of Europe, where it leases several facilities with a total area of more than 320,000 square meters. “We are proud to expand our partnership with them in Arlandastad and to continue providing modern, attractively located logistics space of a high standard,” says Tony Johansson, Project Manager for the Nordics at Prologis.
Just like the rest of the DC1 property, the new expansion has Green Building environmental certification, which means that the proportion of purchased energy will be at least 25 percent lower than the Swedish National Board of Housing, Building, and Planning’s standards for new buildings. A unique feature of the expansion is the goal of further reducing energy consumption through the use of rooftop solar panels.
– The sustainability aspect is an important and natural component of our partnership with Prologis. In connection with the expansion of the DC1 property, we also plan to invest in a solar power system to further reduce our energy consumption. “We have already worked with Prologis to replace all the lighting in our properties with LED lighting,” says Håkan Nydén, CEO of Schenker Logistics.
Enabling Growth in Healthcare
The area is known for its well-developed infrastructure and strategically advantageous location for logistics. Prologis Park Arlanda is located right next to the E4 and near the intersection where the E18 to Oslo and the E20 to Gothenburg meet. With Stockholm just 36 kilometers away and Arlanda Airport only 5 kilometers away, the park offers an attractive location for companies looking to reach customers both in the Stockholm area and throughout the rest of the Nordic region.
– The expansion of our facilities in Arlandastad is a proactive move and yet another important step on our growth journey. A key focus area for this new expansion will be Healthcare. This is a sector where we have a long history of serving customers with high expectations of their logistics provider and its regulatory compliance, for example, with GDP and GMP. By expanding in Arlandastad, we can welcome new customers in the Healthcare segment while also enabling our current customers to grow further,” says Håkan Nydén.
