TGW Logistics Adds to Its Order Book with a Large-Scale Automation Project for Kave

The intralogistics company TGW Logistics is growing steadily, while the influx of new orders has skyrocketed in recent years. Just recently, TGW announced yet another major deal that fills adds to the order backlog. This time, it's a project for the Spanish furniture company Kave, whose logistics hub in Barcelona is set to be automated.

This investment is part of Kave’s efforts to support the company’s current and future growth. With the new logistics platform, Kave will achieve a capacity of up to 21,000 packages per day and expand its warehouse capacity to 93,000 pallet spaces—more than double the current volume. The expansion is intended to support the company’s growth by enabling faster deliveries, higher picking accuracy, and a more consistent omnichannel experience for both consumers and business customers.

“TGW Logistics has proven to be an excellent partner, and it is a pleasure to work together on a project that is so strategically important to us,” says Francesc Julià, CEO of Kave.

The solution includes the implementation of an integrated storage and order-picking system that combines miniload technology, automated high-bay warehouses, autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), and advanced palletizing processes. With the new logistics platform, Kave will improve its ability to efficiently manage product flows for e-commerce, retail, and B2B.

A unique solution for large and varied product dimensions

One of the biggest challenges with Kave’s new logistics center is handling a wide range of product sizes, which is a challenge for the furniture and interior design industry. To address this complexity, TGW Logistics has designed a solution capable of handling different product dimensions within the same automated system, where goods—regardless of their storage location—are consolidated in a shared palletizing zone.

– This project is the result of close collaboration between the teams at TGW Logistics and Kave. We’re proud to see this collaboration result in a solution that drives their logistics development forward, and it’s a step toward the future we’re building together,” says Anselm Bolea, Sales Project Manager at TGW Ibérica.

The system includes conveyor technology, Cartesian robots for palletizing and depalletizing, mobile Quba robots for handling pallets and roll cages, automated warehouses up to 25 meters high, and ergonomic picking stations with automatic palletizing and shrink-wrapping. The result is a system that automates and improves ergonomics, leading to increased efficiency, precision, and scalability.

“We truly appreciate the trust Kave has placed in TGW Logistics by choosing us as a strategic partner for such a crucial project in the areas of technical innovation and operational efficiency. It is an honor to support their development and help shape their logistics operations,” says Albert Vidal, Managing Director of the Customer Unit South Europe at TGW Logistics.

The highly automated logistics center is scheduled to begin operations at the end of 2028.
