Descartes Systems Group has acquired the Canadian company ShipTrack, a provider of last-mile solutions for the e-commerce industry. Through this acquisition, Descartes is strengthening its portfolio of solutions for logistics-intensive businesses.
ShipTrack is a provider of cloud-based delivery tracking solutions. ShipTrack’s cloud platform automates deliveries while providing customers with real-time delivery updates and estimated arrival times.
– The challenge many distributors face when it comes to the last mile of delivery is how to handle increased delivery volumes at a time when customer demands for different delivery methods and real-time updates have also grown. Our platform helps these companies meet the challenges they face by providing powerful workflows throughout the entire delivery process and real-time information to the end customer. “Together with Descartes, we now see significant opportunities to create a unique product that combines our last-mile solutions with Descartes’ route optimization,” says Shawn Winter, co-founder of ShipTrack and VP of Mobility Solutions at Descartes.
ShipTrack’s scalable and configurable platform is said to be particularly well-suited for companies operating in e-commerce and home delivery of packages and medications, where there is a significant need for an efficient last-mile process. For Descartes, the acquisition of ShipTracks is a key part of the company’s strategy to strengthen its e-commerce offering.
