For a company that strives to reduce its customers’ environmental impact, it makes perfect sense to adopt a circular approach. With that in mind, Turck Vilant Systems commissioned entrepreneur Salla Axelin to design this year’s Christmas gift using the company’s recycled exhibition materials.
“An easy way for us to showcase our brand is to hang fabrics on display walls. But the size of the walls varies from one trade show to another, so we end up with leftover material after every event,” explains Jessica Säilä, marketing manager at Turck Vilant Systems.
So now, Salla Axelin, the entrepreneur behind the company Sallan Paja, has repurposed the leftover exhibition materials into stylish bags containing a vacation gift for Truck Vilant’s customers.
– We provide RFID tracking systems designed to prevent errors and report the location of an item or shipment in real time. “In practice, we solve the industry’s day-to-day problems caused by human error—such as when a pallet is loaded onto the wrong vehicle and ends up in Rovaniemi instead of Vaasa,” says the company’s CEO, Heikki Haavisto, adding:
– The idea of reducing waste is deeply ingrained in our company’s DNA, so cheap corporate gifts ordered from abroad don’t align with our values. Reusing exhibition materials, on the other hand, is a perfect fit. We’ve received particularly positive feedback from Sweden, where customers are very interested in the environment and the circular economy. Several customers have even asked us to include an environmental impact assessment in our ROI calculations,” says Haavisto.
