Swisslog has been commissioned by KB Components, one of Scandinavia's leading manufacturers of plastic components, is modernizing and developing its pallet handling operations at its facility in Örkelljunga.
KB Components and Swisslog have been collaborating for more than thirty years on warehouse automation, and Swisslog has now been commissioned to supply the ProMove conveyor system and SynQ WMS as part of an ongoing effort to modernize and streamline the warehouse facility.
– With the new pallet system, we’re replacing an old, outdated system that risks causing problems in our warehouse operations. With ProMove, we’re getting a modern system for all our pallet handling, from storage to delivery of customer pallets. At the same time, our old software is being replaced with Swisslog’s SynQ, a modern WMS system. “Since we already use Swisslog’s crane control system, we’ll avoid the need for new integrations and interface issues,” says Jörgen Martinsson, Production Engineering Manager & Logistics Manager at KB Components.
The facility handles everything from small to large plastic parts, primarily for the automotive industry. A key goal for KB Components is for the ongoing modernization of the facility to replace forklifts and other manual processes in the warehouse.
– We have a strong partnership with Swisslog, and with ProMove and SynQ, we’ll double our productivity in pallet handling and gain better opportunities for continued expansion. “Currently, we can process about 800–900 pallets in 16 hours, but with the new solution, we’ll be able to do that in half the time,” says Jörgen Martinsson.
The installation of the track system and SynQ WMS is scheduled to take place during the summer of 2021.
