KICKS is building a massive warehouse

Kicks is making the largest investment in the company’s history—over 200 MSEK—with the construction of a new, highly automated ”omni-warehouse” in Rosersberg, just north of Stockholm. The goal of this initiative is to future-proof the company’s warehousing and logistics solutions. The new warehouse will handle both the supply of goods to KICKS stores and the company’s rapidly growing e-commerce business.

The new warehouse, together with a solution for picking e-commerce orders in-store, will enable fast deliveries across all three of KICKS’ markets: Sweden, Norway, and Finland. The rationale behind the decision to invest in a new warehouse is that KICKS wants to ensure an efficient, scalable, and sustainable logistics solution across all of the company’s markets, while also laying the groundwork for continued profitable growth as it scales up further. The total investment for the new omnichannel warehouse is estimated to exceed 200 million, and the warehouse is expected to become operational in early 2024. The rollout of in-store fulfillment for e-commerce orders began as early as fall 2021; this solution will be fully launched and scaled up in 2022.

– We’re leaving an eventful year behind us, marked by strong growth and record sales, as well as further improved profitability, and it is with great confidence in the future that we are now ready to move forward with this investment. “We also see that we currently have a well-functioning omnichannel strategy that customers truly appreciate, and with a consolidated and future-proof logistics platform, we will be well-equipped to further strengthen our market position,” says Freddy Sobin, CEO of KICKS.

The partners in establishing the property for the new omnichannel warehouse are Bockasjö and Kilenkrysset, both of which have extensive experience in creating modern, efficient, and environmentally friendly logistics facilities. The warehouse will cover 29,000 square meters and will provide significantly greater capacity compared to the company’s current warehouse solution. Furthermore, the omnichannel warehouse will be built with high sustainability goals and will be certified under the BREEAM-SE Excellent environmental standard. Among other features, it will be powered by electricity from solar panels and will offer electric vehicle charging stations.
