KNAPP is now launching PickEngine, a modular shuttle solution described as ”a serious contender in the field of standardized warehouse automation.” PickEngine is a modular shuttle solution with an implementation time of approximately six months, making it suitable for both large and small companies seeking a fast and flexible AS/RS (automated storage and retrieval) system, KNAPP states in a press release.
– PickEngine is significantly faster than its competitors. And when you compare it to a manual warehouse, the efficiency gains are even more pronounced. In a manual warehouse, each picker can handle perhaps 100–150 order lines per hour, and depending on the number of pickers, PickEngine is often three to four times as efficient, says Peter Henriksson, Head of Technology & Solutions at KNAPP Nordic.
PickEngine is based on proven technology from KNAPP’s OSR Shuttle Evo and consists of an ergonomic picking module, a storage module with intelligent robots, and a control module based on KiSoft software that provides a complete overview of inventory levels and orders. The system can be delivered with 12 aisles and offers the option to customize the number of lifts, workstations, and processes.
KNAPP states that PickEngine offers significantly higher performance—up to 5,000 order lines per hour—compared to comparable systems. And the solution can be delivered significantly faster than custom automation solutions.
– It’s not uncommon for a fully customized solution to take 1–1.5 years to deliver. With PickEngine, this time has been reduced to about 6 months. The fact that PickEngine is quick to integrate and get up and running further enhances its benefits, especially compared to competing systems,” says Peter Henriksson of KNAPP Norden.
