DHL Freight is strengthening its Swedish operations with a new CEO. On January 1, 2025, Mathias Krümmel will join the company as CEO to increase the focus on growth in Sweden. This means that Mathias Krümmel, who was forced to step down from his role as CEO of PostNord Sweden in June of this year, is already back in a leadership role in the logistics and transportation industry.
Robert Zander has been CEO of DHL Freight Sweden since 2019; in 2022, he also assumed the role of CEO for the Nordic and Baltic regions. Under his leadership, DHL Freight has taken significant steps in cost control and efficiency and has made progress in quality, digitalization, and sustainability.
– Sweden is one of DHL Freight’s most important markets and requires significant focus. I am pleased that we have the opportunity to welcome Mathias Krümmel to DHL and to the role of CEO in Sweden. His experience and expertise provide us with a strong foundation and opportunities to continue growing and developing in Sweden. I look forward to working alongside Mathias and learning from the valuable insights he will bring to the table,” says Robert Zander, who will now shift his focus to strategic issues and his role as CEO of Nordics & Baltics for DHL Freight.
Mathias Krümmel’s appointment is a natural part of the DHL Group’s global strategy, which aims to increase revenue by 50 percent by 2030. At the same time, it strengthens the foundation for DHL’s “globally local” presence in Sweden. Mathias’s many years of experience in logistics, parcel services, and e-commerce make him the perfect fit to continue developing DHL Freight’s comprehensive offering and operations in the Swedish market.

Mathias Krümmel most recently worked at PostNord, where his roles included serving as CEO of the Swedish operations. In his new role, he will report to Robert Zander.
