Relex Acquires Optimity

Finnish company Relex, which offers integrated solutions for supply chain and retail planning, is acquiring the Swedish-Australian company Optimity, according to a press release. The acquisition is said to strengthen Relex’s retail and supply chain platform with features for daily production planning, optimization, and scheduling.

“The consumer goods industry is incredibly dynamic and complex. Through the acquisition of Optimity, we will be able to link downstream demand with upstream planning, enabling consumer goods companies to forecast consumer demand more accurately, optimize production plans, adjust inventory levels, and respond quickly to market changes or unexpected disruptions,” says Mikko Kärkkäinen, co-founder and CEO of Relex.

With its headquarters in Sweden and offices around the world, Optimity offers a comprehensive solution for supply chain planning and optimization, specifically for manufacturers and distributors. The solution enables customers to make optimal decisions throughout the supply chain—from strategic levels down to detailed production planning—and includes demand planning, production planning and scheduling, supply planning, distribution planning, inventory optimization, and S&OP. With more than 80 customers in the food and beverage and complex manufacturing sectors, Optimity brings expertise in the retail and consumer goods markets to Relex.

– Our in-depth knowledge of some of the most complex consumer goods industries—such as baking, prepared foods, protein production, and industrial manufacturing complements Relex’s vast knowledge of consumer demand, which is based on their impressive expertise in managing more than $700 billion in demand within the grocery sector alone, says Christer Liden, CEO of Optimity.
