The COVID-19 pandemic has presented several challenges. One of these challenges is the increased pressure on e-commerce, which has affected, among others, the German startup KoRo Handels GmbH—a provider of high-quality food delivered directly from producer to consumer. KoRo has now decided to implement Descartes’ custom-tailored WMS for e-commerce to better manage the increased customer demand in a more efficient manner.
– The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic have led to increased demand from our customers. Our solution couldn’t handle the sharp increase, which resulted in delayed deliveries and our customer service department being overwhelmed with questions and orders. We were therefore in urgent need of a new solution, and in just 30 days, we successfully implemented Descartes WMS for e-commerce. This allows us to handle the increased demand and improve customer satisfaction. We now ship approximately 30,000 packages per month, and even on the busiest days, packages are shipped the same day, says Biggy Le, Process Manager at KoRo.
WMS that automates the e-commerce process
Descartes WMS for E-commerce automates information management in the e-commerce process—from initial receipt of goods to delivery and returns processing. Its rapid implementation enables small- and medium-sized retailers to scale up their operations and meet the growing demand for e-commerce.
– We’re pleased that our solution is helping KoRo improve the customer experience, reduce the workload, and increase the number of successful deliveries. Our e-commerce solutions can be easily customized to meet customers’ unique and complex requirements and integrated with a wide range of internal systems, shopping carts, and marketplaces. This enables retailers to scale up their e-commerce operations in a profitable and seamless way,” says Dirk Haschke, VP & General Manager of E-commerce at Descartes.
KoRo is a Berlin-based startup founded in 2012. Initially, the company sold surplus laundry detergent at low prices through its website and Amazon. In 2014, KoRo began selling high-quality food online, and by the end of 2015, the company had transitioned entirely to online grocery retail.
