Xeneta Acquires eeSea – Integrates Data and Insights on Ocean Freight

Norwegian company Xeneta AS, a provider of global supply chain data on ocean and air freight, announced in a press release that it is acquiring its Danish industry peer eeSea, which offers insights and predictive analytics for the global container shipping industry. Together, the two companies will strengthen customers’ ability to evaluate and optimize container shipping..

– Today marks an important milestone for Xeneta. Merging with eeSea and combining our data and expertise will advance our shared mission to create transparency and efficiency in how ocean freight is bought and sold. “Our combined data sources and coverage will provide customers with information that better enables them to manage freight costs and ensure delivery reliability,” says Xeneta CEO Patrik Berglund.

By adding eeSea’s global data on schedules, transit times, and reliability to its existing range of freight data, Xeneta aims to enable its corporate clients’ procurement professionals to manage freight contracts and suppliers based on service levels—not just cost—to ensure the right service at the right price. Xeneta is a privately held company with over 200 employees worldwide and is headquartered in Oslo. The company is transforming freight procurement and logistics by delivering accurate, independent data and ready-to-use insights through its data services, award-winning platforms, market insights, optimization reports, and detailed freight, service level, and vessel data, which help companies manage risks, plan more effectively, and improve their operational performance.

– I truly believe in Xeneta’s vision, as well as its daily drive and commitment to transforming how ocean freight is negotiated. A true partnership between carriers and shippers depends not only on freight rates, but also on the operational performance provided by the carrier, such as transit times, reliability, canceled sailings, weekly stability, and accuracy in schedule forecasts. “I am truly looking forward to the combined offering that Xeneta and eeSea will provide to support this need,” says Simon Sundboell, founder and CEO of eeSea.

Headquartered in Copenhagen, eeSea provides insights and productive analysis for maritime supply chains in the global container shipping industry. Its eeSea platform offers vessel tracking, real-time forecasts, transit time analysis, and strategic insights into trade lane capacity—including canceled sailings—based on the analysis of real-time data and historical patterns from multiple data sources.
