Coop’s highly automated distribution center in Eskilstuna handles the flow of goods from receipt to delivery, as well as approximately 95 percent of the picking processes. For this highly automated facility, Coop—with SSI Schäfer as the general contractor—has recently been awarded two industry accolades: the Best of Industry Award and the reta Award.

The Best of Industry Award, established by the Vogel Communication Group, highlights industrial projects each year that stand out for their significant efficiency gains, technical innovation, and sustainable practices. In the ”Sustainability” category, SSI Schäfer and Coop Sweden received the award for their highly automated, energy-efficient, and sustainable distribution center in Eskilstuna. The award is based on votes from readers of industry publications.
reta Award
The reta Award, presented by the EHI Retail Institute, is an award for technological development in the retail sector. The award highlights projects that clearly streamline supply chains and successfully integrate digital innovations into day-to-day operations. Coop Sweden was recognized in the ”Supply Chain Excellence” category for its work to reduce transportation volumes and optimize the flow of goods using robotics. As a result of this award, SSI Schäfer has been named ”Top Supplier Retail.”.
