Descartes launches MacroPoint OpsForce, a suite of AI agents that automates shipment tracking and exception handling for shipments in Descartes' Global Logistics Network (GLN) platform.
OpsForce handles tasks that have traditionally required extensive manual work when multiple parties are involved in the supply chain: tracking shipments, communicating with drivers, and collecting delivery receipts. OpsForce is built on data from the multimodal Global Logistics Network (GLN) which is a platform that connects hundreds of thousands of carriers and logistics providers worldwide. With GLN’s real-time data and network intelligence, the AI agents can act quickly and accurately. Since its launch, results have been immediate. On average, customers report:
- 100 %: Elimination of Manual Follow-Up Calls
- 30 % increase in automated tracking, without manual intervention (no-touch tracking)
- 1.5 times higher productivity for those who work in tracking
- 15 %: Faster order processing thanks to automatic collection of proof of delivery (POD)
Specifically, and when necessary, the solution’s AI agents are automatically activated to facilitate the use of the mobile app for drivers—to restore tracking in the event of an interruption, confirm delivery and departure times when tracking data is uncertain, and collect missing proof of delivery.
“Where ELD devices, TMS integrations, and geofencing aren’t enough—and that happens more often than you might think—AI agents step in to eliminate repetitive tasks, while connecting agents and shippers to more carriers, improving data accuracy, customer satisfaction increases, and order-to-payment cycles are accelerated without requiring employee intervention,” says Dan Cicerchi, General Manager of Transport Management at Descartes.
“As customers expand their own AI initiatives, the need for large volumes of reliable real-time data increases. GLN delivers exactly that, and on a large scale,” says Ken Wood, EVP of Product Management at Descartes, highlighting GLN’s unique position:
– The network continuously processes real-world transactions between hundreds of thousands of trading partners. This provides a data foundation that, combined with agent-based AI, helps customers automate more tasks and make better decisions throughout the supply chain.
