The Swedish Armed Forces Logistics Command (FMLOG) is signing a cooperation agreement with the Swedish Hauliers' Association to ensure a robust logistics chain both in peacetime and during conflict, FMLOG states in a press release.
In the event of a crisis or conflict, the Swedish Armed Forces must ensure that both personnel and equipment can be transported efficiently. Collaboration with stakeholders in the transportation sector enables innovative solutions and rapid action, which is crucial for maintaining operational capability and readiness. The Swedish Armed Forces seek close collaboration with stakeholders in the transportation sector to ensure Sweden’s national security and readiness. By building stronger partnerships with these stakeholders, the Swedish Armed Forces can effectively manage logistical challenges and improve defense capabilities in an increasingly uncertain world.
– We see a growing need to collaborate with the private sector, particularly in the areas of transportation and logistics. Companies with expertise in these fields contribute valuable knowledge and resources that strengthen our work. By combining our resources and capabilities, we can ensure a rapid and effective response to meet both our own needs and those of our allies in times of crisis and war,” says Lieutenant Colonel Andreas Nordén, head of the Transportation Unit at the Swedish Armed Forces’ Logistics Command.
To strengthen cooperation with the transportation sector, the Swedish Armed Forces will carry out several activities, including joint exercises and workshops, where representatives from both the Swedish Armed Forces and transportation companies can share experiences and best practices. The goal is to create an efficient and robust transportation chain capable of meeting the demands of a crisis or wartime situation.
“The trucking industry is a key part of Sweden’s preparedness, both in peacetime and during societal disruptions. Through collaboration with the Swedish Armed Forces, we can strengthen both the resilience of the transportation system and Sweden’s overall preparedness. We look forward to closer cooperation,” says Oscar Hyléen, CEO of the Swedish Trucking Association.
A cooperation agreement is already in place with the Swedish Shipowners’ Association and will be followed by several similar agreements with other industry organizations in the transportation sector.
