For distribution centers that handle a wide variety of SKUs and need to build pallets with mixed goods, Körber is introducing a flexible “pallet-to-mixed-pallet” solution designed for distribution centers and medium-sized warehouses.
With the new MixPal, Körber addresses the most labor-intensive bottleneck in distribution centers and warehouses. The solution is a direct pallet-to-mixed-pallet system that reduces the need for complex and costly intermediate steps such as depalletizing, buffering, and retrieval, and makes it possible to assemble pallets with different SKUs. This solution is well-suited for the FMCG industry, the food and beverage sectors, and 3PL companies, among others.
– All distribution centers that assemble store-ready pallets containing dozens of different products know that this is a highly manual and labor-intensive task. “Our MixPal fully automates this process and builds pallets with multiple SKUs, optimized to be ready for the store,” says Jan Kristensen, Head of R&D at Körber Supply Chain.
Reduced space requirements and lower costs
By combining proven technologies such as AMRs and Körber’s Gantry system with advanced vision systems and software, Körber’s MixPal is a direct pallet-to-mixed-pallet solution. It eliminates the need for depalletizing, storage, and transport of individual cartons. The AMRs move the pallets and position them under the gantry system, allowing cartons to be picked directly from the incoming pallets and placed onto order pallets. Since there is no need for storage or conveyor belts, the solution requires only a small amount of space and is cost-effective, even for smaller warehouses.
– We help the thousands of medium-sized warehouses and distribution centers that are facing labor challenges but cannot justify the investment in a full-scale automation solution. “Thanks to its small footprint, this modular and flexible system is well-suited for smaller facilities and can be quickly implemented in both existing warehouses and greenfield projects,” explains Jan.
All distribution centers facing the challenge of shipping more SKUs in increasingly smaller volumes can benefit from Körber’s MixPal. The solution, which can handle up to 800 cartons per hour per gantry system, uses an intelligent AI-based system that automatically builds stable, secure, and store-compatible pallets. The AI-driven picking solution and the digitally supported system also provide data-driven insights into operations.
– Reducing labor-intensive bottlenecks provides a strong business case for most warehouses that need to prepare mixed pallets ready for store delivery. Added to this are Körber’s digital tools, which provide valuable data and insights into the entire operation. “We’re not just eliminating a bottleneck; we’re also creating new opportunities to fine-tune operations,” says Jan.
Körber unveiled MixPal at LogiMAT 2026 and demonstrated how medium-capacity warehouses can quickly and efficiently implement automation for store-ready pallets.
