Project44—one of the global leaders in real-time transportation visibility—launched ”Autopilot” this week, a platform that allows carriers, freight forwarders, and 3PL companies to deploy AI agents in their delivery flows without having to write prompts, build integrations, or hire technology specialists. The initiative is reported to have cost over one billion dollars and is the result of an 18-month rollout of AI agents across project44’s global network.
According to the company, the introduction of Autopilot has already led to a 4 percent reduction in shipping costs, while improving carriers’ visibility and on-time performance and reducing the need for manual coordination by 70 percent. Autopilot’s AI agents handle routine tasks that have long required human intervention—such as delays, deviations, checks, and communication with partners and recipients. AI agents are changing this by taking over these processes and managing and responding to them autonomously.
– Our customers shouldn’t have to choose between speed and control; with Autopilot, they get both. The agents are built-in. The context is already there. Tailor it to your business, and the system will start working—reducing shipping costs, closing data gaps, and freeing up tied-up capital in inventory,” says Jett McCandless, founder and CEO of project44.
Today, there are approximately 40 workflows in Autopilot, including reason codes for late deliveries, missing PRO numbers, and contacting carriers to confirm estimated time of arrival (ETA), and more workflows are added every week. In its press release, project44 states that Autopilot’s workflows run on the same contextual foundation that powers project44’s agent portfolio: a logistics data graph—that is, an advanced data structure and database model—used to connect complex and dispersed logistics information in a network of nodes comprising more than 259,000 carriers and 1.5 billion annual shipments across over 186 countries and territories.
project44 is a decision intelligence platform for modern supply chains. Using context-based AI, it transforms fragmented logistics management into unified data, ensuring the reliability of global supply flows. Through intelligent transport management, end-to-end visibility, and last-mile solutions, 1.5 billion deliveries are connected annually for over 1,000 leading brands across a wide range of industries.
