The full-day seminar will be held on November 5 Manufacturing AI Data Forum Stockholm, Organized by Snowflake. The event is aimed at people working in various supply chain roles—in production, logistics, and sourcing—at manufacturing companies. The goal of the event is to provide participants with greater insights and a better understanding of how data can be used to create increased business value.
Most people agree that data is the new oil or the new gold. The challenge often lies in gaining access to all relevant data—and, not least, in turning that data into insights that generate real business value.
– A major challenge in the supply chain—whether it involves production, logistics, or after-sales—is that data is generally stored in different silos. It is therefore important both to bring all relevant data together in one place and to use the available data to create value. For example, you can use data in an S&OP process to gain a better understanding of demand and thereby improve production planning, which in turn creates the conditions for improving both incoming and outgoing material shipments, notes Martin Gutberlet who is Industry Principal, Manufacturing at Snowflake and one of the speakers at the seminar.
Martin began his career at Ericsson and, over the years, has primarily worked on production issues related to IT and digitalization, including as country manager for Gartner in Germany.
”Find good use cases and scale up”
In other words, capturing relevant data and compiling it in one place is not a goal in itself, but merely part of the solution. What’s even more important is identifying where data can create value and rolling it out broadly across the organization.
– The key is to find good use cases and scale them across the entire organization. This might involve identifying an effective way to forecast expected delivery times (ETAs) and then realizing the benefits by scaling that approach company-wide. It’s also important to make value creation measurable and to make it visible to business leaders,” says Martin, emphasizing that what matters most isn’t primarily the amount of data you manage to capture, but rather the actual monetary business value that’s created.
”A 50 percent increase in efficiency”
The second keynote speaker at the seminar is Ahmad Al-Mashahedi, who is the Lead Data Scientist at Toyota Material Handling Europe. Ahmad will describe how Toyota Material Handling Europe, in collaboration with Snowflake, has created a modern data and AI platform, which has, among other things, led to a 50 percent improvement in the company’s handling of service calls.
