The 3PL company Speed Logistics’ warehouse facility in Borås is set to be automated in collaboration with Element Logic. The entire workflow, from goods receipt to delivery, will be automated and optimized to accommodate future growth and an increasing number of customers.
“For us, this initiative is about future-proofing our logistics for both existing and new customers. We need a solution that can grow with us, while maintaining the highest level of efficiency from day one,” says Erik Irwing, Business Area Manager at Speed Logistics.
At the heart of the automation solution is an AutoStore system with 16 robots designed to handle items that fit into standardized bins/boxes arranged in a grid with a storage capacity of 60,500 locations. The AutoStore solution is used both for storage and for processing orders that are shipped directly in cartons.
For larger cartons, a Quadron Shuttle from Addverb Technologies—a partner of Element Logic—is installed. The shuttle solution features 11,600 dynamic storage locations and 16 shuttles. Each shuttle has the capacity to handle 385 cartons per hour and supports double-deep storage. Just like with an AutoStore, it’s quick and easy to scale up capacity by adding additional shuttles. An integrated conveyor system, supplied in collaboration with SGA Conveyor System, connects the facility’s various zones.
“This is one of the most advanced solutions we’ve delivered in Sweden. We’re automating nearly every step and building a platform that can scale for both Speed and its customers,” says Anders Bohlin, Sales Director at Element Logic Sweden.
The entire solution is managed by Element Logic's software platform—which includes eManager, eController, and eHub—that synchronizes and controls the various components of the solution.
“We’ve had a close, solution-focused partnership with Element Logic for a long time. This is a natural next step, where we’re taking a major step together toward an even smarter and more future-proof warehouse,” says Hans Sahlin, CEO of Speed Group.
“We’re seeing growing demand for comprehensive and flexible solutions that connect more parts of the logistics chain. This project clearly demonstrates that automation isn’t just about faster picking, but about optimizing the entire flow,” says Benny Thögersen, CEO of Element Logic Sweden.
Installation will begin in July 2025, and the solution is scheduled to go live in January 2026.
