In the fall of 2022, logistics giant DSV will break ground on a massive 175,000-square-meter construction project adjacent to its existing logistics facility in Landskrona. With this expansion, the logistics facility’s total floor space will exceed 270,000 square meters, making it Sweden’s largest and one of the largest in the Nordic region.
Centrally located between Gothenburg to the north and Lund/Malmö to the south, and right next to the E6/E20 highway, the new facility—together with the existing one—will form a logistics center serving the Danish, Finnish, Norwegian, and Swedish markets. With the new logistics buildings, DSV in Landskrona will offer a total warehouse area of over 225,000 m². Together with the existing office space of nearly 11,000 m² and a 35,000 m² terminal, DSV’s logistics center in Landskrona will cover more than 270,000 m² once the new facilities are completed. The new facility will also include 70,000 m² of temperature-controlled warehouse space.
Two new warehouses
The new 175,000 m2 construction project includes two new warehouses. The 70,000 m2 building will feature two temperature-controlled storage zones with sufficient space for storing fast-moving consumer goods, which is particularly important for supermarket chains and consumer brands. The second building, covering 105,000 m², will be used for traditional warehousing and will include a range of automated solutions.
– We will be able to offer a comprehensive temperature-controlled solution with different temperature zones, as well as additional capacity for traditional warehousing at the new DSV warehouses. “These facilities will be equipped with technology such as AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles) and cranes, which will enable us to provide the best possible efficiency and service levels to our Nordic customers,” says Ian Swinhoe, CEO of DSV Solutions AB.
Construction is expected to begin in the fall of 2022, and occupancy of the new facilities is expected to take place in 2024, once the temperature-controlled storage areas are completed and the automation solutions are installed.
